1 vote Office Max October 9, 2009 My printer recently ran out of ink recently, but instead of dropping 60 bucks for new ink for a crappy printer, I decided to buy a color laserjet.

I found one on Newegg.com with 90+ reviews and an average rating of 5 stars, and it was only $130. It was the Samsung CLP 315. I wondered if I could get it any cheaper than that and sure enough, OfficeMax had it for $99 and free shipping. I needed it quickly because I am in school and couldn't be without a printer. On the product information page it said that it usually ships within 1-2 business days, so I went ahead and ordered it.

Well, two days after, the order status still showed "pending". I called to ask what was going on and they informed me that the printer was back ordered and would not ship for at least 10 days.

What the crap?

I ordered it from OfficeMax because they said they could ship it quickly, but it was also cheap. The customer service agent wasn't much help either. I asked her if there was any way I could buy it from a local OfficeMax and cancel my order but she said that the entire company was out.

My question is, how come they couldn't have put that on the product page? I would have just ordered it from Newegg had I known it was out of stock. I hate when companies do stuff like that. They ought to know better.

I thought I would give them a chance since they had a good price, but I doubt I'll be buying much from them any time soon.

October 13, 2009 This is an update to previous review:

One week after placing my order, the product still has not shipped. When I ordered the product it said it would ship within 1-2 business days. As explained earlier, the product is on backorder. I just called to find out what the status is.

The customer service agent informed me that the printer is still on backorder and would not ship for up to 21 days. That's 11 days longer than they told me last time.

She also told me that Office Max does not send email updates or update order the order status on their website if there is a problem with the order. SERIOUSLY? It's 2009! It's obvious that Office Max was born WAY before the internet!

I politely asked her to cancel the order and to inform her managers that their customers should be informed if the product is on backorder or if there is some other issue.

I just ordered the printer from Newegg.com and I know I'll have a much better experience.

October 14, 2009 Update #2

I ordered the printer from Newegg.com less than 24 hours ago and it's already on its way. Office Max, you could take a few pointers from Newegg.
