Au Naturale
August 25, 2009
We just got back from Au Naturale in Salt Lake City, Utah. We had never been there and were in the mood for something new so we decided to go. I got a salad which was okay, but my wife got a burger that was horrible. The meat looked surprisingly similar to those frozen Costco hamburger patties that come in the big cardboard box. If you've ever gotten the Costco burgers, you know that they are separated by square sheets of waxed paper. When my wife took the bun off to put some ketchup on the burger, she found a big piece of waxed paper still attached to the meat. She was so hungry she decided to take it off and have a bite anyway. She almost threw up. I took a bite too and just about did the same. It had the gross freezer burned taste to it. Also, the fries were those frozen fries you can buy at the grocery store with the wavy sides. They were bad too.
Needless to say, we decided to let the clerk know about what we found on the burger. She was very polite and agreed with us completely without question. Immediately, she began refunding the meal without us having to ask and apologized for the problem. After we sat down, she came over to our table and apologized again.
For a name like "Au Naturale", it was ironic to have frozen burgers and fries. However, they made up for it in customer service.
The verdict:
Food - Bad News
Customer Service - Good - Guest
